CC Mobile Arts is a robust program that seeks to provide recurring and diverse high quality multi-disciplinary arts experiences at no cost to the public. Community members can share ideas for programming of interest, local artists can book the truck for shows and workshops, and local institutions can request visits from the truck to their sites.
By giving children, youth and adults in the community an opportunity to participate in workshops, concerts, dances, and educational activities, the truck is acting as a catalyst for creativity, collaboration, and wonderment. The truck is decked out with a full sound system, solar powered generator, and movable troughs for dynamic gallery spaces.
CC students gain critical programming, networking, and advocacy skills, all while growing in a professional team setting. With partners ranging from Cottonwood Center for the Arts, Food to Power to Inside Out Youth Services and the Pikes Peak Children’s Museum, the truck has truly driven right into this community's heart. The name “mobile arts” hints at the trucks’ “mobile and changeable modalities”- it can act as a stage, gallery, dance floor, kids playhouse, and more. The truck is not only an investment in the lives of CC students, the dreams of CC professors, and the Colorado Springs youth, it is an investment in whatever wild idea you can come up with. Stretching the minds of CC students and faculty alike, some events on the docket include an experimental music performance, a drag show, poetry readings at local libraries, and a pirate themed night at the Children's museum. With CC Mobile Arts, anything is possible. Help us create the events of our dreams.
