Class of 1971 50th Reunion Fundraising

Dear Class of 1971,

The class of 1971 from Colorado College will celebrate our 50th reunion on Oct. 8-10, 2021 on the CC Campus. I know many of us find it hard to believe that we are the “old folks” celebrating the momentous 50th anniversary of our graduation.

Your reunion committee has been busy planning events, arranging venues for gathering and thinking about our gift as a class. We have established a 50% class participation goal and a $300,000 class fundraising goal.

The past year has been an unbelievable time for our world. The challenges have been immense. Many of us have been seriously impacted. But, now we are finally emerging from the worst of the pandemic and can look with optimism to the future.

Colorado College is moving forward with the appointment of the 14th President, L. Song Richardson. The new ice arena on campus, the Ed Robson arena will open soon. Giving continues from graduates and sponsors. Recently the college received a $33.5 million gift, the largest in college history.

However, overall giving from alumni has historically been low. The percentage of giving among alumni ranks the lowest among our peers at 20%. Schools with the highest level of giving are in the 40s and 50s.

Each of us had an amazing opportunity to receive an education from one of the outstanding liberal arts colleges in the country. We have gone on from our education to fulfill our career dreams and make an important contribution to our communities, states and the nation. This is now our opportunity to help provide this opportunity to promising students of the future.

Please consider whatever you can afford, whether a one-time gift, a gift spread over a five-year period or an estate gift. There are many fund choices and all are important opportunities to make a difference. If you have questions or need additional information please contact Will Schiffelbein (wschiffelbein@coloradocollege.edu).

All of the committee and many of our fellow students are looking forward to the opportunity to remember the music, the issues and the excitement of our time at Colorado College. Please join us at the reunion and consider making a gift to the college.

Sincerely,

Your Class of 1971 Reunion Planning Committee
